Preamble to Allan R. Wallace's biography:

I remember as a a young man reading about a quandary that had faced Billy Graham. The young Billy wanted to promote Jesus, not himself. Graham soon realized that he could fill a tent, and latter stadiums, with people wanting to hear Billy Graham talk about Jesus; but he couldn't fill a store front with an ad that said "an unknown evangelist will speak to you about your relationship with God."

We seem hardwired to consider the source, I'll reveal Allan R. Wallace as a source.

I have avoided putting up a biography for three primary reasons. First, I did not want the emphasis on Allan R. Wallace. Second, privacy is far too rare a commodity today, it would be nice to preserve even a bit. Finally I personally distrust biographies as they seem to present only positives and those positives in the best possible light. The temptation is to keep it short by stating only the best of my rather checkered life.

There have been a few serious questions about what kind of person is behind these organizations. The suggestion was made that greater success would be possible if I bragged a bit. I think it is more likely critics than prospective students will review this -- but I could be wrong.

I have also had respected doers suggest my biography should be included at my sites. This biography is done out of respect for their hard earned insight. OK -- I've done all the following stuff (and more), but some of it was a long time ago, and some of it I no longer want to do.

Biography:

Education: degree in Psychology from the city college, degree in Business Administration with a Finance concentration from a California state university. I was accepted into a private university with full scholarship for advanced studies, and I declined. A voracious reader, I learn more each year from books and interaction with insightful people than I learned in all my years of public school combined.

Sales: Top salesman of newspapers while still in grade school, and a salesman of everything from shoes to water beds to small businesses since. Trainer, manager, mentor and tormentor in the sales field. Director of a sales and sales management school. Past member of the National Speakers Association for professional public speakers.

Business: Managed retail and direct sales organizations. Director of a computer training center. Worked in both staff and line positions from start ups to Fortune 500 companies; General manager to National sales manager. Started my own companies and charities. Retired the first time at age 35. I had less personal time when retired as I concentrated on my family, finance, and volunteer executive positions.

Finance: Senior accountant at a Fortune 500 company. Investment consultant. Successful speculator in stocks, derivatives, real estate, etc. for over twenty five years. Etcetera. Boring stuff if you are not into finance (if you are an investor check my financial site here).

Consulting: Consultant for start up and small businesses. When divorced I did a John Gault and went back to work as a blue collar hourly employee. I continued to consult with and start small businesses on the side. Started Junior Partner Ministries to support and train missionaries. Formed Silent Partner Consulting to aid in the education and development of small business owners.

Conclusion: Do you really know more than when we started this exercise? One person that had asked me for a biography was working with a Non Government Organization (NGO). He said he would like to promote BFU, "it is a wonderful concept," but his constituents would be afraid of fraud if they did not see a biography.

I personally think a fraud would write a beautiful biography, some of it even true. That would indicate a biography has little value unless you intend to research it closely. The problem seems to be that the Bastiat Free University site says what we do, and what you can do, but it doesn't say much about who we are.

You now know a bit about who I am - I hope that is a comfort.

If you want the other side of my biography, talk to my ex-wife.  Just so you don't have to look too deep to discredit me - besides the satisfying successes - my personal learning curve has included two bankruptcies and a divorce. If you need more, talk to me over a cup of coffee, when we get together we can talk specifics.  It is not me that is important - it is the ideas - think about them.

Bastiat Free University is part of Silent Partner Consulting which is part of Junior Partner Ministries. The original free university concept was to assist those that have a small business, but have never had the time to pursue a degree. The idea was expanded after discussions lamenting the availability of affordable education focused on rational learning. We therefore "Just Did It!" We will not file for government tax free status, we will not seek donations from foundations, we will not pursue government grants. Thank God we will not become an NGO.

We have started free, we want to stay free. Anyone feeding at a government trough must expect to be herded, penned, branded, milked, and/or slaughtered. I can't help but believe a lean elk wandering the mountains is more fulfilled than a calf being fattened in a stall.
